Engage

1. Provide each student with a copy of the Engage Activity Sheet (Spanish version) and 12 color tiles.

2. Play the video.

3. Pause the video for the journal entry.

4. Facilitate as students use color tiles to determine the area of each rectangle on the Engage Activity Sheet.

5. If desired, display the Engage Answer Key (Spanish version).

Explore

1. Provide each student with the Explore Activity Sheet (Spanish version) and 2 rectangles cut out from grid paper (Explore Activity Master, Spanish version).

2. Play the video.

3. Facilitate as students use square grids to determine the area of each rectangle on the Explore Activity Sheet.

4. If desired, display the Explore Answer Key (Spanish version).

5. Use the debriefing questions from the video for a whole-class discussion.

Explain

1. Arrange students in pairs.

2. Provide students with the Explain Activity Sheet (Spanish version).

3. Play the video. Pause the video while students record their Journal Entry in their Math Journals.

4. Provide each student pair with 2 dice (number cubes).

5. Follow the directions in the Explain Answer Key (Spanish version) to facilitate an activity with students.

6. To differentiate for the struggling learner, provide students with square-inch grid paper (Mission Support Sheet, Spanish version) and/or color tiles.

7. Facilitate students as needed.

Elaborate

1. Provide each student with the Elaborate Activity Sheet (Spanish version) and color tiles.

2. Play the video. Pause the video while students record their Journal Entry in their Math Journals.

3. Assist students as needed as they solve the problems on the activity sheet. Facilitate students as needed.

6. Use the video to discuss the debriefing questions.

Evaluate

Procedure:

1. Display the questions or provide a printed copy of the Evaluation Questions (Spanish version) for each student.

2. Use the Evaluate Answer Key (Spanish version) as necessary.

Independent Practice

After the Evaluate questions, try some Independent Practice (Spanish version). 

Check your Answers (Spanish version).

Lesson Quiz

As a summative assessment, use the Lesson Quiz (Spanish version). 

The Lesson Quiz Answer Key shows correct answers and contains a TEKS alignment for each question.
