1. Obtain an Engage Activity Sheet, scissors, and glue, tape, or paste.

2. Play the video.

3. Match each problem situation with a number sentence.

4. Discuss different ways to identify operations from a verbal problem situation.

5. Display the Engage Answer Key if desired.

Explore

1. Work with a partner.

2. Obtain an Explore Activity Sheet and a set of cups, beans, and two-color counters.

3. Play the video. Pause the video as indicated to complete the activity sheet.

4. Answer the debriefing questions. If desired, work on the Extra Practice problems.

5. Display the Explore Answer Key if desired. 

Explain

1. Obtain blank paper, scissors, and glue, tape, or paste.

2. Play the video. Pause and repeat as necessary for construction of foldable graphic organizer.

3. Answer the Journal Entry Question in your Math Journal.

4. If desired, obtain the Mission Support Sheet.

5. Complete the Explain Independent Practice Activity.

6. Display the Explain Independent Practice Answers if desired.

Elaborate

1. Obtain the Elaborate Activity Sheet.

2. Play the video.

3. Complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of the activity.

4. Obtain a Mission Support Sheet if desired.

5. Use the video to answer the debriefing questions.

6. Display the Elaborate Activity Sheet Answers if desired.

Evaluate

1. Display the questions or provide a printed copy of the Evaluation Questions for each student.

2. Use the Evaluate Answer Key as necessary.

Independent Practice

After the Evaluate questions, try some Independent Practice.
