Examine the unique characteristics gifted students exhibit. Learn how to recognize the at-risk behaviors that gifted learners can develop. Explore what experts in the field have discovered about these at risk behaviors. Participants will leave with classroom strategies to support a gifted student’s strengths and will help prevent at-risk behaviors.
Learn all About the Texas Performance Standards Project (6 hours)
Review the history and general overview of the state initiative, Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP). Learn about the goals of the project and how it can benefit a classroom teacher, student and a district/charter. Understand the components of the TPSP website; tasks, assessment, curriculum, and resources. Examine several options for implementation of the state initiative.
Review for the TExES Supplemental Certification Test (6 hours)
Examine the competencies on the G/T Supplemental Certification Test. Review material that supports Foundations for Gifted Education, Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction. This is a test prep session to increase the potential for success on the TExES Certification exam.
