Nature and Needs and Service Options for Administrators and Counselors
Examine the unique characteristics and needs of gifted students. Review state law and guidelines that are outlined in the Texas State Plan for Gifted and Talented students. Discuss current trends in gifted education and how those trends make an impact on the education of gifted students. Participants will examine best practices for serving gifted students and analyze different service options that are currently being implemented across the state.
Program Evaluations/Strategic Planning
Evaluate your current services using the six sections of the Texas State Plan for Gifted and Talented Students. Identify your district strengths and weaknesses. Create a strategic plan to improve those services. This evaluation can be done with a G/T identified task force or a formal audit with observations and data collected by auditor.
